Waluscha De Sousa, who forayed into Bollywood opposite superstar Shah Rukh Khan through “Fan”, is basking in all the appreciation coming her way post the movie’s success. She says the positive feedback acts as a motivational boost for her.

After sashaying on the ramp as a model and then putting her professional life on the back burner for her family, Waluscha decided to take the leap into Hindi filmdom with “Fan”.

Directed by Maneesh Sharma and produced by Yash Raj Films, the movie, which released on April 15, featured Shah Rukh in a double role — one as a superstar and other his look-alike fan Gaurav. Waluscha plays SRK’s real wife Gauri Khan on the silver screen.

“I have been getting a lot of positive feedback ranging from ‘You are looking really great onscreen’ to ‘You acted really well’ to ‘You held your own in front of Shah Rukh’. So a lot of great compliments coming in and it is very encouraging at this point,” Waluscha told IANS over phone from Mumbai.

The debutante says compliments coming from the director means a lot to her.

The 31-year-old said: “There is so much coming in. Everyday something new comes in. I am just enjoying it. It is very encouraging to have people say great things about you. I think the response from Maneesh was the most important to me”.

“Maneesh said, ‘The scenes that you have are not the easiest because there are so many mixed emotions. You have done a great job and held your own in front of Shah Rukh. You should be very proud of yourself’. When it comes from the director, it is the ultimate (compliment),” Waluscha added.

There were reports that Shah Rukh would play a ‘love guru’ in Gauri Shinde’s film, but the actor dismissed it.

The 50-year-old star indicated that he is not doing a cameo in the film.

Actor Tiger Shroff says the second movie in an actor’s career is more important and that’s the reason he took time to take it up after his debut film “Heropanti” in 2014.

“I feel the second film is more important than first one, especially if you are accepted. I wanted to be sure of what I would do next. I am thankful to audience and I wanted to give them something better. I am confident about ‘Baaghi’,” Tiger told PTI.

Tiger, the 26-year-old son of well-known actor Jackie Shroff, will be seen next in Sajid Nadiadwala’s home production “Baaghi”.

In the film, he will be performing Kalaripayattu, a martial art form.

“In the action space, change is happening. We areevolving. With ‘Baaghi’ we are trying to change things. It is about going back to our roots and being proud of what we are,” he said.

“We had martial arts form here, but don’t know why people were not using it. Everybody in the East wants to be like West and people in West wants to be like East,” he added.

The actor will be seen romancing Shraddha Kapoor, whom he has known since childhood. That is why he found it easy to do romantic scenes with the “Aashiqui 2” actress.

“It was easy to romance Shraddha. She made me feel comfortable. I am a very shy person, but shooting intimate parts happened easily because of the comfort level that we share. We had fun while shooting,” he added.

“Baaghi”, directed by Sabbir Khan, releases tomorrow.

Hrithik Roshan and Kangana Ranaut’s battle makes for a unique case study. Their nasty separation and subsequent court battle are hogging the limelight like their films. With ‘new facts’ being reported almost everyday, here is a compilation of the events and how people have reacted to this.

Kangana and Hrithik have worked together twice, first in Kites (2010) and then in Krrish 3 (2013). During Kites, Hrithik was rumoured to be involved with his co-star Barbara Mori. Reports of Hrithik-Kangana affair started doing the rounds after Krrish 3. They are said to have come close to each other during the shooting of this film. The Hrithik-Kangana affair rumour gained momentum after the actor officially separated from his wife Sussanne in December 2013. (Read: Vital facts about Kangana’s leaked image suppressed, says Hrithik Roshan’s spokesperson)

kangana ranaut, hrithik roshan, kangana, hrithik, kangana ranaut news, hrithik roshan news, kangana news, hrithik news

For most part of 2014, their relationship was a hush-hush affair as Hrithik stayed low profile with only one release that year in the form of Bang Bang, while Kangana grew strong with Queen. The rumours about their affair became the talk of the town only in 2015 when speculations became rife about them seeing each other. (Also read: Won’t be giving any more statements to media: Kangana Ranaut)

When asked about Hrithik in June 2015, Kangana responded by saying, “Ab main kya bolun? I don’t want to comment on this. Jo hoga pata chal jayega.”

Hrithik Roshan was quizzed about Kangana only on one occasion when he and Sonam Kapoor were present at an event to launch his single, Dheere Dheere. Hrithik was asked if he was dating Kangana and the actor replied, “Oh my god, what do I say.” Before he could say anything, Sonam intervened and said, “Guys he just said that he is single a little while earlier.”

Fast forward to 2016, the Hrithik- Kangana rumour reared its head again when speculations about Hrithik having ousted Kangana from Aashiqui 3 started doing the rounds. Hrithik never officially reacted to it. But Kangana did in her own way on January 28 when in an interview she said, ‘Yes, many lame rumours are doing rounds, even a dumb ass can tell where these rumours are coming from. I don’t know why exes do silly things to get your attention. For me that chapter is over and I don’t dig graves.’

Kangana smartly avoided mentioning Hrithik’s name in her quote although it was evident that she was hinting at the actor being her ex. Hrithik reacted to this quote by tweeting that very night. “There are more chances of me having had an affair with the Pope than any of the (I m sure wonderful) women the media has been naming. Thanks but no thanks.”

On February 16, Hrithik Roshan sent a legal notice to Kangana asking her to apologise for damaging his reputation through the ‘silly ex’ quote and also clarify that she wasn’t referring to him as her ex. He threatened to sue her for defamation if she didn’t comply.

Kangana responded with a 21- page legal notice saying she nowhere mentioned his name and charged Hrithik with criminal intimidation and threat.

Hrithik’s version:

Sources close to Hrithik have been saying at a party Kangana met Hrithik and thanked him for congratulating her via email for the National Award win for Queen. Hrithik, however, told her he had never emailed her. It was then brought to her notice that she had been receiving emails not from his original email but that of an imposter. Hrithik disclosed to Kangana his original email ID and sources claim thereafter Kangana started sending an average of 50 mails per day to Hrithik on his original email including titillating videos of herself.

Hrithik has officially spoken only once when he sent out his statement via his publicist on March 17 saying:

“Anything private that becomes public gives rise to speculation and unnecessary controversies simply because the general public are not privy to the whole truth.Out of respect for everyone involved, I followed the legal path to resolve the matter in question so as to keep it private. It was a breach of ethics to reveal the contents of a private legal notice. Dignified silence is dignified up to a point, but there comes a time when the silence needs to be broken to protect one’s name, family and image. The crux of the matter is that the mail id hroshan@email.com does NOT belong to me. I had filed a complaint in this regard with Mumbai Cyber Crime cell on 12 December, 2014 when I learnt of this impersonator communicating with said person. I have absolutely NO CONNECTION with this ID. The entire issue stems from a case of identity theft which has carried over to me. My complaint was reactivated on March 5, 2016 and the crime unit has made headway in tracking this person down. Once that is done, the matter can be laid to rest. And finally, I believe that mental health is a grave and crucial issue which merits serious discussion. I would never address it flippantly nor use it as a personal attack. Any allegation to the contrary is a misrepresentation of facts. I was requested to keep silent and I did so for 2 years.”

Kangana has reacted only once in this matter on March 22 at an event where she told The Indian Express that despite being strong such things can be overwhelming and she requested for privacy and her own personal space in this matter.

On March 30, Hrithik was slapped with a legal notice by Abraham Mathai for suggesting that Pope is gay through his tweets aimed at Kangana.

Five days later on April 3, Hrithik Roshan delivered an apology.

On April 22, a trail of emails sent by Kangana to Hrithik were made public. In the e-mails, Kangana purportedly writes to Hrithik, “Sometimes I feel so unsure of everything. Does our love really exist or it’s just a fantasy? Is our love for real or is it an imaginary person that I talk to? Why don’t you ever talk to me? If our love is real then why is it intangible? Real things are tangible, aren’t they? What if someday I meet you and you tell me that you haven’t received anything, you don’t even know me, you never loved me. What will I do then? Will I ever recover from that revelation of that fatal reality. Will I get another chance to start all over again? Or will my life just be a broken dream?”

On April 26, an image of Hrithik sharing an intimate moment with Kangana was leaked online. (Read: Hrithik Roshan, Kangana Ranaut’s intimate picture leaked)

On April 27, team Hrithik released a series of pictures to prove that the intimate picture was a zoomed in and cropped one and was a part of group pictures clicked at a party in 2010.

Hrithik’s ex-wife Sussanne too jumped in the fray by tweeting a picture of herself and Hrithik from the party. (Also read: Sussanne supports ex husband Hrithik Roshan in fight against Kangana Ranaut; calls pictures photoshopped)

Hrithik received support from his industry friends yesterday namely Sanjay Gupta, Goldie Behl and Karan Johar.

On April 28, Kangana’s ex Adhyayan Suman, in an interview, said Kangana practised ‘black magic’ and was ‘abusive’ towards him during their relationship.

In this ensuing battle, Kangana’s lawyer Rizwan Siddiquee was engaged in sending press statements almost every other day. Hrithik’s lawyer Dipesh Mehta was a subdued party and used to sparingly reply to Kangana’s lawyers statements. In this melee, Hrithik orchestrated two changes. He hired a new publicist and lawyer.

Actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar, who brought the life of Milkha Singh to the silver screen with “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag”, on Thursday extended his support to the legendary Indian athlete, saying he is “completely entitled” to have his opinion.

Farhan also condemned the media for taking Milkha’s views on superstar Salman Khan’s appointment as India’s goodwill ambassador at the Rio Olympics out of context. He said Milkha didn’t “say anything against the actor”.

When asked about the controversy, Farhan said: “It is genuinely not for me to decide. It is for the Indian member committee to decide who they want to sign as an ambassador. If they feel it’s the best decision then I am no one to say anything. But I must say one thing which is I feel that how it (comment) transpired. I feel what Milkha Singh ji said and how it was put out, I think it was very unfortunate”.

The “Dil Dhadakne Do” star added: “He didn’t say anything against the actor but said that if he had been asked to finalise, he would have opted for a sportsman in that personal space. And I think he was completely entitled to his opinion. He never said what came (out) in press. I think there is certain introspection that media needs to do because it creates unnecessary controversy. Because nobody said anything that mala fides other person”.

Salman’s appointment has sparked off a debate on whether he should be the goodwill ambassador for India at the Rio Olympics or not. Many sportspersons including Milkha have come forward to criticise the decision, while Bollywood stars Kirron Kher and filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya have backed Salman.

Salman’s father Salim Khan has also tried to defend his son’s appointment.

Farhan added: “I think he was out on a public forum and he was asked his opinion on how he felt on an actor being ambassador of Olympic contingent and he, as honestly as he has always been, shared his views. He said it was unfortunate and also said that he doesn’t have anything against any actor and I cant say whether its a right choice or wrong choice”.

The actor was in the national capital with star Anil Kapoor for the announcement of the 17the edition of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards. The four-day cinematic celebration will be held in Spain from June 23.

As a cinematographer and producer, Amitabha Singh has worked on critically acclaimed movies like “The Good Road”, “Yahaan” and “Khosla Ka Ghosla” but the filmmaker says he chose “Shortcut Safari” for his directorial debut because the issue of environment is close to his heart.

Starring Jimmy Shergil and seven talented child artistes, “Shortcut Safari” revolves around a group of urban children who get trapped in a dense forest during their school outing.

“It has been a very conscious decision to debut like this, with this story because this issue is dearest and closest to my heart. I feel when it comes about our concerns for our children and environment though there is a lot of things which are going on, there is also a sense of sensibility ,” Singh told PTI.

The director has tried to make the film an immersive experience for the audience so that they get entertainment along with the social message.

“‘Shortcut Safari’ is an experience-oriented film. I want people to get immersed in the world of those kids, who get lost in the jungle. I want them to experience the adventure of the kids.”

Another children film, “The Jungle Book”, has been doing exceptionally well at the Indian box office but Singh hopes his film will get accepted and won’t suffer due to the similar forest backdrop.

“I do believe that there is room for everything. There is a room for us as well because sensibilities that we are talking about in our film are completely different from ‘The Jungle Book’.

“It’s not based on any epic or not it’s a part of any history. It does not underline drama and other ingredients which were important in ‘Yhe Jungle Book’. Here, we are talking about concerns of today and through this story we are looking into the future,” he said.

A FTII graduate, Singh started his career with ad films and later turned cinematographer and producer. The filmmaker finds himself lucky to have been part of good quality cinema and he wants to push the boundaries with his new role of a director.

“I have been blessed that since the beginning I have been part of films, which have been turning points in modern Indian cinema. Now, that I have chosen to be a director, I want to do the same and bring a change in our films. I want ‘Shortcut Safari’ to be a turning point for kids films. I will direct more such movies in future.”

“Shortcut Safari” releases Friday(April 29).

Actor Manoj Bajpayee, who will be seen as a traffic constable in the upcoming thriller “Traffic”, believes that he always brings honest characters in front of the audience through his films.

“I believe I do good movies and bring honest characters to the audience. I try to give a satisfying experience to moviegoers. Therefore, whatever is needed I would do that so that the film reaches to the maximum people,” Manoj said.

“I am always available for promotions. Whatever I am needed to do I will do that. Even if they ask me to stand on the road wearing a traffic constable costume, I can do that too,” the 47-year-old actor added.

Manoj is also to meet senior officials of traffic police.

“Traffic” is based on a road trip from Mumbai to Pune. The story revolves around transportation of a harvested heart for a heart transplant case, chasing a strict deadline. During the mission, the characters face numerous difficulties and obstacles, traffic being one of them.

Actor Emraan Hashmi, who will be seen essaying former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin’s role in “Azhar”, says the makers took the liberty to increase the “entertainment quotient” in the biopic.

“Our popular culture is music so you have to take liberty of that. Azharuddin has never sung such songs for sure but we have some lovely songs in this film. For few scenes we took the liberty to privatise it… We took some liberty to increase the entertainment quotient,” Emraan told IANS about taking cinematic liberty for the film.

Emraan, who claims he was a huge fan of Azharuddin, was upset when the former captain of the Indian cricket team was accused of match-fixing in 2000.

“I have been a huge fan of Azhar bhai and I was upset because his name was dragged into match-fixing. I thought it was wrong where people started believing that he took money, but that was wrong because our judicial system has a course and their investigation went on for 12 years after which he was acquitted of all charges. It was all about patience for his fans,” Emraan said.

Directed by Tony D’Souza, “Azhar”, which is jointly produced by Balaji Motion Pictures and MSM Motion Pictures, also stars Prachi Desai, Nargis Fakhri, Lara Dutta and Huma Qureshi in pivotal roles and is slated for a worldwide release on May 13, 2016.

Bollywood stars Farhan Akhtar and Shahid Kapoor are returning as the host of this year’s International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards after successfully anchoring the gala in 2014.

Farhan, who was in the capital to make the announcement sans his co-host, said he shares a great chemistry with Shahid and can’t wait to take to the stage with the “Haider” star at the 17th IIFA awards to be held on Junes 25 in Madrid, Spain.

“I am looking forward to it. Hosting takes up a lot of time so I won’t be performing. There is a lot of work to do and rehearsals to attend. Shahid and me will be toiling hard to make sure it is an entertaining experience.

“We have had a wonderful time in the past when we have co-hosted. There is a certain ease that we have and a very great chemistry,” Farhan told reporters here.

The 42-year-old actor-singer-filmmaker in 2012 starred in Spain-set road trip movie “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara” and he said he visits the country very often.

“I have fond memories of being in Spain especially having shot my movie ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’. Even now when I plan my holidays I prefer going to Spain. It is a different experience and I am so happy that the country is hosting this year’s IIFA,” he said.

The awards ceremony will witness performances by Bollywood A-listers like Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Sonakshi Sinha among others.

Veteran Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor, who has been associated with IIFA for more than a decade now, said the upcoming edition of the awards ceremony is posed to be the biggest till date.

“This looks like it is going to be the biggest IIFA till date, looking at the scale of the events planned. Spain is a beautiful country. It is going to be very special year for us,” the 59-year-old actor said.

“I had the good opportunity to go to Spain and I saw that there is a lot of similarity between the two countries.”

Richa Chadha, Sarbjit, Sarbjit CAST, Richa Chadha FILM, Richa Chadha UPCOMING FILM, ENTERTAINMENT NEWS Richa Chadha, who will soon be seen in Omung Kumar’s biopic “Sarbjit”, says real life interests her more than a film.

Actress Richa Chadha, who will soon be seen in Omung Kumar’s biopic “Sarbjit”, says real life interests her more than a film.

“Sarbjit” is based on the life of Indian farmer Sarabjit Singh, who strayed into Pakistan, was convicted of terrorism and spying in Pakistan and sentenced to death.

“I am more interested in real life than a film. Therefore, when a film is made from real life incidents that seems to be more exciting for me. I am lucky to have that opportunity to portray a real life character as Sarabjit’s wife,” she said at the launch of the song “Tung lak” from “Sarbjit” on Thursday.

“Sukhpreet Kaur (Sarabjit’s wife) isn’t a famous character. Although, I did not have to learn the body language, mannerism for the role as Randeep (Hooda) had to. However, mentally, I had to prepare myself a lot. I take a lot of interest in preparing such kind of roles but as an actor, I would love to portray both, real character or fictional,” she added.

Unlike her character Nagma Khatun in “Gangs of Wasseypur”, Richa says her character in “Sarbjit” is a subdued wife. “The only similarity is that, in both the films the characters are ageing as the film proceeds. While my role in ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ is a fiery, outspoken and a loud woman, here, I am a silent housewife whose husband isn’t present at home. She has to take the entire responsibility of her in-laws and her child. Sukhpreet is lively at first and gradually changes when she faces tragedy in her life.”

Besides, Richa, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be seen essaying the role of Sarabjit’s sister Dalbir Kaur in the film and Randeep Hooda as Sarabjit.

The film is set to release on May 20.
