Vishal Singh, who played Jigar Modi in the hit TV show Saath Nibhana Sathiya for quiet some time, has taken a break from TV for films. He is a part of the newly released film Traffic which features Manoj Bajpayee and Jimmy Sheirgill. The actor has already started getting more offers in Bollywood but is stern on not leaving TV as it has given him everything. Traffic releases today (May 6).

In an exclusive conversation with IndianExpress.com, Vishal Singh talks about his Bollywood and international career, his love for TV and the directors and actresses he wants to work with.

How does it feel entering Bollywood?

I haven’t really entered the industry yet, I’m still waiting for the release and looking forward to it, to officially enter the Bollywood.

You have come a long way from TV to movies and are also getting offers from abroad. So how does it feel going this way?

It is an amazing feeling because I had not thought about it. It’s just happening and I am working hard towards it. It’s not that I never wanted to get into films or anything, but I was waiting for something good to come my way. I was waiting for a film with a good concept and great story. So, when I saw this film I really wanted to be a part of it and luckily I got a part. I am really happy that I’m entering Bollywood with this kind of a film. Everyone eventually wants to do a commercial film, but if you ask me I would definitely want to do more films like this than the completely commercial films.

How was it working with Manoj Bajpayee and Jimmy Sheirgill?

Unfortunately, I didn’t have scenes in the film, but yes there were scenes when we all were there somewhere or the other but, but I didn’t have a one to one scene with them. But I have seen him (Manoj Bajpayee) performing in the film and I have seen his other films and I really admire him because he is a brilliant actor and I have learnt a lot from him. Hopefully I will get a new project where I can actually work with them and perform with them.

Did you get any other offers from Bollywood?

Actually, since the time the promos came out, I have got two calls but nothing is finalised. So, until I get the final thing and you know how films work. Because this film was supposed to release two years back and it’s releasing now. So, until and unless everything is done I don’t think I can say anything.

Would you take up roles in television again?

I have not left television. I don’t think I will be able to leave TV, it is equally big, in fact I think television is really bigger than cinema in a way. That’s how everyone comes to TV and promote their films because everyone knows that the reach of TV is big. It’s like I want good work, be it films or TV. I am not leaving TV since it has given me everything.

Where do you see yourself five years down the line?

I have already bought a house in Mumbai, hopefully I’ll buy a house in LA and then I’ll be working in LA and Mumbai both.

How easy of difficult was it for you to drift from TV into films?

Everything was the same, same camera and lights but it’s just that in films you get to play a different character. Television you play the same character for like really long. Second biggest thing is like in TV we shoot on day to day basis, you don’t have that much time to get into your character, but in films they give you time. You might shoot for just one scene in a day but you have to perform well.

Which director do you want to work with in future?
There are so many (laughs). I love Imtiaz Ali, Anurag Basu, Anurag Kashyap, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Karan Johar.

What about actress?
I want to work with Priyanka and Alia.
