Sanjay Dutt will finally be a free man on February 26 after serving his jail term of 42 months, as a part of his five-year sentence after being convicted in the 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts case.
Sanjay Dutt’s eldest daughter Trishala, who is based out of New York, is more than excited for her father (whom she calls her lion). She took to Twitter to share her happiness ahead of her father’s release.
Trishala has been counting days and been posting videos of her father doing the countdown. She wrote on twitter, “SO excited for dad to come home!!! It’s almost time!!! :D.”

The 56-year-old actor, on whom investment worth crores of rupees was riding when he was convicted by the special TADA court in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case, will be carrying with him Rs 440 he earned during his jail stay. Trishala is Sanjay’s daughter from his first wife Richa Sharma, who had died of brain tumour in 1996. Trishala now runs her business of hair and nail extensions in New York. During the investigation and the marathon trial, he spent 18 months in jail. On July 31, 2007, the TADA court in Mumbai sentenced him to six years’ rigorous imprisonment under the Arms Act and imposed a fine of Rs 25,000. In 2013, the Supreme Court upheld the ruling but reduced the sentence to five years.
During his imprisonment, he was granted parole of 90 days in December 2013 and again for 30 days later. (With PTI inputs)
