Salman Khan’s Sultan’s day 8 box office collection’s Rs 219.6 cr: Can it destroy Aamir Khan’s PK record?

Sultan released with high expectations. Salman Khan, Anushka Sharma film exceeded every single one of them. On Tuesday, the film made Rs 10.82 crore, taking the movie’s tally to Rs 219.6 crore.

The film’s continuing its box office dominance despite these being weekdays and lower ticket prices.

As the film became the fastest film ever to earn Rs 200 crore, besting the records of Salman’s own Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Aamir Khan’s two films — PK and Dhoom 3 — more records will soon fall through.

With Sultan, Salman has 10 films in the prestigious Rs 100-crore club. Shah Rukh has six big earners while Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn have five films each who have earned over Rs 100 crore.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh said the film has “iron grip” at the box office. Even the weekday’s business of Sultan is exemplary and it is likely to earn over Rs 235 crore in the first week. On Tuesday, the Yash Raj Film had already earned Rs 208.8 crore. And it is going from strength to strength.

The one man who still stands in Sultan Salman’s way is Aamir Khan. The Dangal actor has the most impeccable record at BO, his film PK is the biggest box office earner and he has three films in rs 200 crore club. This Friday, the film out is Great Grand Masti. With no big stars in its lineup, the adult comedy will also get hurt by its release online last week. It means, Sultan can continue with its victory dance at the box office.
