After a bitter fight with the CBFC, and a subsequent order by the Bombay High Court on its certification, the film Udta Punjab which deals with rampant drug abuse made headlines once again. This time the film was leaked online, two days ahead of its scheduled release in theatres.
However, the film’s team managed to remove it online on war footing from torrent sites.
On Wednesday afternoon, it emerged that the Abhishek Chaubey directed film was available on torrent sites for illegal download. However, soon the download links were “removed due to a copyright complaint”, the websites read.

Previously, a Censor Board copy of the Marathi film ‘Sairat’ was leaked online, affecting the business of the film by at least 10%, according to one of the film’s producers.
The movie, Udta Punjab, seeks to fight against the growing drug menace in Punjab with its content.
