Actor Purab Kohli, who plays an Army officer in film-maker Nikhil Advani’s next, recently got an opportunity to spend time with the Sikh Regiment of the Indian Army in Mumbai. The actor also met some jawans who had fought in the 1999 Kargil War, and was very impressed with the war stories they shared with him.

Purab also spent time observing them in their surroundings, their speech, dialect, body language and parading skills, and it can be expected that all this was part of his research for the upcoming film.

“There’s something about meeting defence personnel. It stirs you from inside. I met some jawans from the Sikh Regiment who are posted in Mumbai. I was intrigued when they told me that they actually prefer being at the border, guarding the nation rather than enjoying the luxuries of a peaceful posting. I was also surprised to know that some of them had seen my previous film, Airlift (laughs). They enjoyed the portrayal of patriotism in it,” said Kohli.
