The might of Salman notwithstanding, we wondered if he was too powerful to have a final say in the matter overruling Aditya Chopra.

Arijit Singh’s post apologising to Salman Khan and pleading with him to retain his song in Sultan has whipped up a storm on social media. Though Arijit took down the post, the damage had already been done with both positive and negative comments flooding his account.

In an exclusive chat with IndianExpress.com, Arijit laid bare his fears. When asked about the reason behind his Facebook post immediately after the trailer launch and if anything in the trailer had indicated the deletion of his song, Arijit told us, ” No. I got to know about this couple of hours ago from the studio. That’s why trying to save it with the last possible way. Have been trying to meet him about this as well. Well he is really angry. But I hope things will be okay soon.”

While Salman is the lead actor, Sultan is produced by YRF chief Aditya Chopra. It’s not clear if Arijit tried reaching him yet on the issue. When asked if he had spoken to Aditya, whose call should be the final word on the matter, Arijit said, “I don’t have any idea about it.”

The might of Salman notwithstanding, we wondered if he was too powerful to have a final say in the matter overruling Aditya Chopra. So, is YRF too helpless in this matter, we asked Arijit, to which he replied, “Honestly I don’t have a clue about that.”

Will Arijit’s song make the final cut? Will Salman forgive Arijit? Will Aditya intervene? All the drama preceding the already much-anticipated movie seems to creating an effective buzz.

Sultan will hit the theatres in July 2016.
