Bollywood perfectionist Aamir Khan is very close to achieving his fitness goal, being just 3kgs away from his 25kgs weight-loss target, before he begins shooting for the next schedule of Dangal in June.
Aamir, who shocked many with his remarkable weight loss when he celebrated his birthday on March 14, has been working out with sheer dedication to achieve his target weight. It’s said he’s managed to shed close to 13kgs over two-and-a-half months.
In this much-awaited movie, Aamir plays the role of wrestling coach Mahavir Phogat, who trained three Commonwealth Games gold medalists. The actor has already shot for sections of the film where he will be seen as a 55-year-old, and is now prepping to play Phogat’s younger version.
To show this transformation, the actor has been undergoing rigorous workout sessions, since he had to previously gain weight — going from 68kg to 93kg in six months — for his role of the ageing wrestler during the first phase of Dangal’s shoots.
In January, Aamir’s target was to lose 25kg in 25 weeks, with his weight-loss programme being monitored by experts in Arizona, US. And at the moment, he is short of his target weight by just 3kg. He has a month in hand before the next schedule of Dangal gets under way.
“The next schedule of Dangal will kick off on June 15 in Punjab. He will shoot for portions where is required to portray a young Mahavir Phogat. Currently, Aamir is in the US and will be back next week,” said Aamir’s spokesperson.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Dangal is scheduled to release this Christmas.
