Too elated and it can’t get better than this, says National Award winning Piku writer Juhi Chaturvedi

Piku, 63rd National Film Awards, Amitabh Bachchan “I had written Piku with absolute honesty and Mr. Bachchan has taken it to another level now. As a writer, I am too elated.”

Writer Juhi Chaturvedi is completely elated after winning two National Awards for Best Screenplay Writer(Original) and Best Screenplay for Dialogues for her film, Piku. Sharing her happiness with IndianExpress.com, Juhi said, “I am elated and infact too happy to react. It can’t get better than this and I am thankful to god.”

As a writer, Juhi said it gave her joy to see viewers identifying with Piku and its story. “Everybody saw Piku or Bhaskor Banerjee in themselves. Many said it is their story.”

Juhi also expressed her happiness at Amitabh Bachchan’s National Award win. “It’s fantastic. I am so elated to see Mr. Bachchan win a national award. Nobody could have been Bhaskor Banerjee other than him. He drowned himself in that world. One part is that I have written it but to be that person is something only Mr. Bachchan could have done.”63rd National Film Awards: Complete List of Winners

While Juhi had never imagined her character would help Big B or her win a national award, the writer says she had penned the story with honesty. “I had written Piku with absolute honesty and Mr. Bachchan has taken it to another level now. As a writer, I am too elated.”
